A Lab Control System is a safety device that regulates the availability of various utilities and devices in single or multiple laboratories. When there is an emergency, the system can shut off water, gas, and/or electrical utilities to a classroom. The system components include:
Main Lab Control Panel:
Houses programmable logic which provides an electronic signal to solenoids or contactors housed in secondary panels that in turn activate or deactivate the utilities as required.
Secondary panels:
- Valve Panel: A pre-assembled solenoid valve panel containing the domestic water and fuel gas solenoid valves required to regulate the availability of domestic water and/or fuel gas.
- Electrical Contactor Panel: A UL508A approved pre-assembled electric panel containing the electric contactors required to regulate the availability of electricity to convenience outlets to include NO or NC.
- Gas Detection Panel: A UL approved pre-assembled panel containing a gas detector/sensor which operates in combination with the LACS lab control panel to shutdown system utilities upon detection of a gas leak.
